Time: Sundays, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Two-session class)
Skill Level: Beginner (Ages 14+*)

Curious about knitting but don’t know where to start? Join our 2-hour beginner class and learn the foundational skills every knitter needs. This hands-on workshop will walk you through the basics, from how to hold your needles to finishing your first swatch using the instructor’s beginner-friendly pattern.

What You’ll Learn:  The student(s) will be taught how to cast on, do the garter stitch, purl, cast off and seam in 2 separate lessons. A variety of props will be used during class, such as samples of garter, purl and stockinette stitch; teacher demonstration and actual knitting using knitting needles and yarn.

What You Need to Bring: Worsted yarn (we recommend Germantown by Kelbourne Woolens or Uptown Worsted by Universal Yarn), knitting needles in size 8 (24" cables), pencils/pens, scissors, tape measures, darning needles.

Skills needed: No knowledge of knitting is required.

Outcome: Students should be able to take home a completed headband or have the skills necessary to complete the headband.

*We will be working at a pace appropriate for older teens and adults. Please be at least 14 years old unless given prior permission by staff.

• 14–20 days before the first class: Refund minus a 50% administrative fee.
• Fewer than 14 days before the first class: No refunds.
• Seat transfer: If you find a replacement who pays for and takes your seat before the first class begins, you are eligible for a full refund.
